410 Division St
Rebstock Building
est. 1885
The legacy of the hometown bakery, as in many small towns, has been a constant piece in the puzzle of Northfield’s downtown for decades upon decades. Not only has this tradition persisted within our town, so too has it within one sole building. 410 Division has been a hearth of warm baked goods ever since the days of William Rebstock’s bakery, which was founded in 1903.
After the era of Rebstock ended, the bakery changed hands several times before finally settling down under the name of Quality Bakery in 1947. Four years later, after a buyout of his co-owner’s shares, Ed Klinkhammer became the sole proprietor of the bakery.
And it persisted for decades under the guidance of Ed, his wife Millie, and later their daughter Sue, a genuine small town family business story. Just as Rebstock’s was earlier, the quaint and old-fashioned Quality Bakery became a popular and beloved downtown destination, lasting for 75 years. Upon Sue’s passing in August of 2022, the bakery closed down. But, in continuation of that small town bakery legacy, Robin’s Egg has now taken up the mantle, continuing the long line of bakeshops at 410 Division Street over the years.
