A Salute to our Korean War Veterans

A Salute to our Korean War Veterans is the newest window display in the bank windows at the Northfield Historical Society. This display was put up last week by avid military artifact collector and history buff Eric Andringa. This display is up in honor of not only the Korean War Veterans but all Veterans. This display will be up through June. Stop on down at the Historical Society, we are located at 408 Division St. Northfield MN, 55057. We are open Tuesday Through Saturday 10 am-4 pm and Sunday from 1pm-4pm. Here is some quick information on the Korean War.

The Korean Conflict is often referred to as the “Forgotten War”. Beginning only five years after the end of World War II, it lacked the same popular attention. Fought as a result of a United Nations resolution, it would create an ongoing challenge to the newly formed organization. Major hostilities would continue at an intense level for two years ending with a cease fire in 1952 that still is in place fifty-four years later. The troops have never come home and there were never any ticker tape parades. To this day soldiers of the Eighth Army still stand guard on the De-Militarized Zone (DMZ).
