Posse members needed

The Northfield Historical Society is in need of "Adult Posse" members.
Since 1992, adult volunteers have been the Northfield Historical Society interpreters and presenters of the events that transpired on September 7, 1876 or as it is known in Northfield and elsewhere: The Defeat of the James-Younger Gang. On summer weekends when guests, tourists, and “townees” enter the Northfield Historical Society museum they are greeted by a local historian wearing period clothing who takes them on a half hour adventure of the day that made a hero of Joseph Lee Heywood and the local citizens. This commitment to the interpretation and preservation of Northfield history has earned the “Adult Posse” tour guides the distinction of being The Voice of the Northfield Raid.

BACK BY POPULAR DEMAND!

The History of Latino Display is back up in the bank windows along Division Street. After the program on February 23, I received many emails asking for the display to be put back up. Well I put the display back up and it will be in bank windows through April. Come on down to NHS at 408 Division Street and take a look at our bank windows to see a wonderful exhibit that was put together by the Intro to Latino Studies class at Carleton College.

Annual Meeting/New Board members

thomfordeoldmain.jpgOn March 4 NHS held it's 31st Annual Meeting at the Northfield Golf Club. 70+ members and friends of the Society attended. St. Olaf College President Christopher Thomforde (left) keynoted the event, bringing us up to speed on the College's state of affairs. Shortly afterward, Vice President of the Board, Scott Elmer, accepted the office of NHS president. Additionally, several leaders in the community were nominated and added to our Board by unanimous vote.
